Starting college again

Quit social media and I am feeling so much better. In a much healthier space now. Feel more focused, my concentration has improved and I am getting a lot more work done. I was worried about loneliness but I have been channelling any negative feelings emerging from the lack of social media into my work and it has been very fruitful. At this point, I consider that any success arising out of my social media use to not be worth the cost to my health. So be it. As I am no longer on social media, I am here to share more of what is going on in my life to whomever might be genuinely interested. I just registered for college, I have my reading lists, orientation week is on MONDAY!!!!! I am thrilled beyond words and so excited. I have spent the evening using the library, saving books to borrow as soon as I can, downloading ebooks and articles etc… The new Trinity search engine is a vast improvement. I was a bit worried there for moment because it didn’t seem as good as UCD’s but this evening it was a breeze and it renewed and doubled my excitement about my forthcoming research and studies. What a dream!!! How lucky am I??? This is the chance of a lifetime. Twenty years ago, ten years, I could never have imagined my life being what it is now. When you have endured a great deal of Terrible Events and Sadness, the good things in life are always met with disbelief and whenever something truly great happens to me, I keep thinking something will happen to take it away and this is without a doubt The Greatest Thing which has ever happened to me in my life. Here I am at 42 and my dreams are coming true. It is nothing short of a miracle. Will post throughout the year!! Will post photos here too.

Also very excited about the Kildare Readers Festival and the Dennis O’Driscoll event. I am busy working away at new poems to read that evening. I love reading my work to an audience (I hope some people will turn up!!) A lot to look forward to and I am keeping positive about the future.
